From Bill Johnson’s “When Heaven Invades Earth”…

Chapter 17: This Present Revival
Because many fear excess, mediocrity is embraced as balance.  Such fear makes complacency a virtue.  And it’s fear of excess that has made those that are resistant to change appear noble minded.  Excess has never brought an end to revival.  William DeArteaga states, “The Great Awakening was not quenched because of it’s extremists.  It was quenched because of the condemnation of its opponents.”  He also says, “Divisions occur whenever the intellect is enthroned as the measure of spirituality - not because spiritual gifts are exercised, as many charge.”  I pay no attention to the warnings of possible excess from those who are satisfied with lack.
This generation is a generation of risk takers.  And not all the risks taken will be seen as real faith.  Some will come to light as steps of foolishness and presumption.  But they must be taken just the same.  How else can we learn?  Make room for risk takers in your life that don’t bat a thousand. They will inspire you to the greatness available in serving a Great God.
The local steelhead fishermen say, “if you don’t get your rig snagged on the bottom of the river now and then you’re not fishing deep enough.”  While I don’t want to honor presumption and error, I do want to applaud passion and effort.  Our obsession with perfection has given place to some of our greatest blemishes.  When I taught my sons to ride a bike I took them to the park where there was lots of grass.  Why?  Because I wanted them not to get hurt when they fell.  It was not a question of if. The addiction to perfection has given place to a religious spirit.  People who refuse to step out and be used by God become the critics of those who do.  Risk takers, the ones who thrill the heart of God, become targets of those who never fail because they seldom try.

MARCAVAGE FOUND “GUILTY” FOR PREACHING
ON SIDEWALK NEAR THE LIBERTY BELL

Folks, I was totally blown away when I watched the following video.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QV0-OhihAUo

Michael Marcavage was arrested for preaching on the street. Why?  Because he was not in a federally mandated “free speech zone” while preaching the gospel.

WHAT??

Please watch this video if you are able, a preacher being arrested for sharing the gospel on the streets. This is blatant trashing of our first amendments, freedom of speech and freedom of religion.

Take a moment to read some of the comments underneath the video as well.

GLOBAL WARMING AND THE PRICE OF A GALLON OF GAS

GLOBAL WARMING AND THE PRICE OF A GALLON OF GAS
by John Coleman (founder of the Weather Channel)
You may want to give credit where credit is due to Al Gore and his global warming campaign the next time you fill your car with gasoline, because there is a direct connection between Global Warming and four dollar a gallon gas.  It is shocking, but true, to learn that the entire Global Warming frenzy is based on the environmentalist’s attack on fossil fuels, particularly gasoline.  All this big time science, international meetings, thick research papers, dire threats for the future; all of it, comes down to their claim that the carbon dioxide in the exhaust from your car and in the smoke stacks from our power plants is destroying the climate of planet Earth.  What an amazing fraud; what a scam. The future of our civilization lies in the balance.
That’s the battle cry of the High Priest of Global Warming Al Gore and his fellow, agenda driven disciples as they predict a calamitous outcome from anthropogenic global warming.  According to Mr. Gore the polar ice caps will collapse and melt and sea levels will rise 20 feet inundating the coastal cities making 100 million of us refugees.  Vice President Gore tells us numerous Pacific islands will be totally submerged and uninhabitable.  He tells us global warming will disrupt the circulation of the ocean waters, dramatically changing climates, throwing the world food supply into chaos. He tells us global warming will turn hurricanes into super storms, produce droughts, wipe out the polar bears and result in bleaching of coral reefs. He tells us tropical diseases will spread to mid latitudes and heat waves will kill tens of thousands.  He preaches to us that we must change our lives and eliminate fossil fuels or face the dire consequences.  The future of our civilization is in the balance.
With a preacher’s zeal, Mr. Gore sets out to strike terror into us and our children and make us feel we are all complicit in the potential demise of the planet.
Here is my rebuttal:
There is no significant man made global warming.  There has not been any in the past, there is none now and there is no reason to fear any in the future. The climate of Earth is changing. It has always changed.  But mankind’s activities have not overwhelmed or significantly modified the natural forces.
Through all history, Earth has shifted between two basic climate regimes: ice ages and what paleoclimatologists call “Interglacial periods”.  For the past 10 thousand years the Earth has been in an interglacial period.  That might well be called nature’s global warming because what happens during an interglacial period is the Earth warms up, the glaciers melt and life flourishes. Clearly from our point of view, an interglacial period is greatly preferred to the deadly rigors of an ice age.  Mr. Gore and his crowd would have us believe that the activities of man have overwhelmed nature during this interglacial period and are producing an unprecedented, out of control warming.
Well, it is simply not happening.  Worldwide there was a significant natural warming trend in the 1980’s and 1990’s as a Solar cycle peaked with lots of sunspots and solar flares.  That ended in 1998 and now the Sun has gone quiet with fewer and fewer sun spots, and the global temperatures have gone into decline.  Earth has cooled for almost ten straight years.  So, I ask Al Gore, where’s the global warming?
The cooling trend is so strong that recently the head of the United Nation’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change had to acknowledge it.  He speculated that nature has temporarily overwhelmed mankind’s warming and it may be ten years or so before the warming returns.  Oh, really!  We are supposed to be in a panic about man-made global warming and the whole thing takes a ten year break because of the lack of sun spots.  If this weren’t so serious, it would be laughable.
Now allow me to talk a little about the science behind the global warming frenzy. I have dug through thousands of pages of research papers, including the voluminous documents published by the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.  I have worked my way through complicated math and complex theories. Here’s the bottom line: the entire global warming scientific case is based on the increase in carbon dioxide in the atmosphere from the use of fossil fuels.  They don’t have any other issue.  Carbon dioxide, that’s it.
Hello Al Gore; Hello UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.  Your science is flawed; your hypothesis is wrong; your data is manipulated.  And, may I add, your scare tactics are deplorable.  The Earth does not have a fever.  Carbon dioxide does not cause significant global warming.
The focus on atmospheric carbon dioxide grew out a study by Roger Revelle who was an esteemed scientist at the Scripps Oceanographic Institute. He took his research with him when he moved to Harvard and allowed his students to help him process the data for his paper.  One of those students was Al Gore. That is where Gore got caught up in this global warming frenzy.  Revelle’s paper linked the increases in carbon dioxide, CO2, in the atmosphere with warming.  It labeled CO2 as a greenhouse gas.
Charles Keeling, another researcher at the Scripps Oceanographic Institute, set up a system to make continuous CO2 measurements.  His graph of these increases has now become known as the Keeling Curve.  When Charles Keeling died in 2005, his son David, also at Scripps, took over the measurements.  Here is what the Keeling curve shows: an increase in CO2 from 315 parts per million in 1958 to 385 parts per million today, an increase of 70 parts per million or about 20 percent.
All the computer models, all of the other findings, all of the other angles of study, all come back to and are based on CO2 as a significant greenhouse gas. It is not.
Here is the deal about CO2, carbon dioxide.  It is a natural component of our atmosphere.  It has been there since time began.  It is absorbed and emitted by the oceans.  It is used by every living plant to trigger photosynthesis.  Nothing would be green without it.  And we humans; we create it.  Every time we breathe out, we emit carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.  It is not a pollutant. It is not smog.  It is a naturally occurring invisible gas.
Let me illustrate. I estimate that this square in front of my face contains 100,000 molecules of atmosphere.  Of those 100,000 only 38 are CO2; 38 out of a hundred thousand.  That makes it a trace component.  Let me ask a key question: how can this tiny trace upset the entire balance of the climate of Earth?  It can’t.  That’s all there is to it; it can’t.
The UN IPCC has attracted billions of dollars for the research to try to make the case that CO2 is the culprit of run-away, man-made global warming.  The scientists have come up with very complex creative theories and done elaborate calculations and run computer models they say prove those theories.  They present us with a concept they call radiative forcing.  The research organizations and scientists who are making a career out of this theory, keep cranking out the research papers.  Then the IPCC puts on big conferences at exotic places, such as the recent conference in Bali.  The scientists endorse each other’s papers, they are summarized and voted on, and viola, we are told global warming is going to kill us all unless we stop burning fossil fuels.

May I stop here for a few historical notes?  First, the internal combustion engine and gasoline were awful polluters when they were first invented.  And, both gasoline and automobile engines continued to leave a layer of smog behind right up through the 1960’s.  Then science and engineering came to the environmental rescue.  Better exhaust and ignition systems, catalytic converters, fuel injectors, better engineering throughout the engine and reformulated gasoline have all contributed to a huge reduction in the exhaust emissions from today’s cars. Their goal then was to only exhaust carbon dioxide and water vapor, two gases widely accepted as natural and totally harmless.  Anyone old enough to remember the pall of smog that used to hang over all our cities knows how much improvement there has been.  So the environmentalists, in their battle against fossil fuels and automobiles had a very good point forty years ago, but now they have to focus almost entirely on the once harmless carbon dioxide.  And, that is the rub.  Carbon dioxide is not an environmental problem; they just want you now to think it is.

Numerous independent research projects have been done about the greenhouse impact from increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide.  These studies have proven to my total satisfaction that CO2 is not creating a major greenhouse effect and is not causing an increase in temperatures.  By the way, before his death, Roger Revelle coauthored a paper cautioning that CO2 and its greenhouse effect did not warrant extreme countermeasures.
So now it has come down to an intense campaign, orchestrated by environmentalists claiming that the burning of fossil fuels dooms the planet to run-away global warming.  Ladies and gentlemen, that is a myth.
So how has the entire global warming frenzy with all its predictions of dire consequences, become so widely believed, accepted and regarded as a real threat to planet Earth?  That is the most amazing part of the story.
To start with, global warming has the backing of the United Nations, a major world force.  Second, it has the backing of a former Vice President and very popular political figure.  Third, it has the endorsement of Hollywood, and that’s enough for millions.  And, fourth, the environmentalists love global warming.  It is their tool to combat fossil fuels. So with the environmentalists, the UN, Gore and Hollywood touting Global Warming and predictions of doom and gloom, the media has scrambled with excitement to climb aboard.  After all the media loves a crisis.  From Y2K to killer bees the media just loves to tell us our lives are threatened. And the media is biased toward liberal, so it’s pre-programmed to support Al Gore and UN.  CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, MSNBC, The New York Times, The LA Times, The Washington Post, the Associated Press and here in San Diego The Union Tribune are all constantly promoting the global warming crisis.
So who is going to go against all of that power?  Not the politicians. So now the President of the United States, just about every Governor, most Senators and most Congress people, both of the major current candidates for President, most other elected officials on all levels of government are all riding the Al Gore Global Warming express.  That is one crowded bus.

I suspect you haven’t heard it because the mass media did not report it, but I am not alone on the no man-made warming side of this issue.  On May 20th, a list of the names of over thirty-one thousand scientists who refute global warming was released.  Thirty-one thousand of which 9,000 are Ph.ds.  Think about that.  Thirty-one thousand.  That dwarfs the supposed 2,500 scientists on the UN panel. In the past year, five hundred scientists have issued public statements challenging global warming.  A few more join the chorus every week.  There are about 100 defectors from the UN IPCC.  There was an International Conference of Climate Change Skeptics in New York in March of this year.  One hundred of us gave presentations.  Attendance was limited to six hundred people.  Every seat was taken. There are a half dozen excellent internet sites that debunk global warming.  And, thank goodness for KUSI and Michael McKinnon, its owner.  He allows me to post my comments on global warming on the website KUSI.com. Following the publicity of my position from Fox News, Glen Beck on CNN, Rush Limbaugh and a host of other interviews, thousands of people come to the website and read my comments.  I get hundreds of supportive emails from them.  No, I am not alone and the debate is not over.
In my remarks in New York I speculated that perhaps we should sue Al Gore for fraud because of his carbon credits trading scheme.  That remark has caused a stir in the fringe media and on the internet.  The concept is that if the media won’t give us a hearing and the other side will not debate us, perhaps we could use a Court of law to present our papers and our research and if the judge is unbiased and understands science, we win.  The media couldn’t ignore that. That idea has become the basis for legal research by notable attorneys and discussion among global warming debunkers, but it’s a long way from the court room.
I am very serious about this issue.  I think stamping out the global warming scam is vital to saving our wonderful way of life.

The battle against fossil fuels has controlled policy in this country for decades. It was the environmentalist’s prime force in blocking any drilling for oil in this country and the blocking the building of any new refineries, as well. So now the shortage they created has sent gasoline prices soaring. And, it has lead to the folly of ethanol, which is also partly behind the fuel price increases; that and our restricted oil policy.  The ethanol folly is also creating a food crisis throughout the world–it is behind the food price rises for all the grains, for cereals, bread, everything that relies on corn or soy or wheat, including animals that are fed corn, most processed foods that use corn oil or soybean oil or corn syrup. Food shortages or high costs have led to food riots in some third world countries and made the cost of eating out or at home budget busting for many.
So now the global warming myth actually has lead to the chaos we are now enduring with energy and food prices. We pay for it every time we fill our gas tanks.  Not only is it running up gasoline prices, it has changed government policy impacting our taxes, our utility bills and the entire focus of government funding. And, now the Congress is considering a cap and trade carbon credits policy.  We the citizens will pay for that, too. It all ends up in our taxes and the price of goods and services.
So the Global warming frenzy is, indeed, threatening our civilization.  Not because global warming is real; it is not.  But because of the all the horrible side effects of the global warming scam.
I love this civilization.  I want to do my part to protect it.
If Al Gore and his global warming scare dictates the future policy of our governments, the current economic downturn could indeed become a recession, drift into a depression and our modern civilization could fall into an abyss. And it would largely be a direct result of the global warming frenzy.
My mission, in what is left of a long and exciting lifetime, is to stamp out this Global Warming silliness and let all of us get on with enjoying our lives and loving our planet, Earth.

Do you know Him?

My wife and I are reading John Eldredge’s book, “Wild at Heart.” Great book. Couples need to read this followed by the reading of the book he wrote with his wife, “Captivating,” which gives a terrific insight into how women are wired. Two thumbs up!

In this morning’s chapter, John was talking about the big mistake most men tend to make, that is, expecting for the “Golden-Haired Beauty” to validate us as men.
Big mistake. Adam cannot run to Eve and expect anything more than she humanly has to offer. There are no physical answers to our spiritual problems.
Last night, we ministered to a woman at our Prayer Clinic. A pretty lady, she came seeking deliverance from the lifelong need to be validated by men. Courageous! Seems that, as a child, the poor girl’s dad was so wrapped up in trying to help her drug-addicted sister that, along with working his job, he had no time for her. So, she sought that masculine attention elsewhere as she got older.
This has ultimately failed her as well.
PRACTICING HIS PRESENCE
“Jesus wants to be a real person in your life!” Those are the words I heard from wild-eyed evangelist Jesse Duplantis on a cassette tape I had listened to some 15 years ago. At the time, the words offended me until I realized that Jesus was no more than an historical figure to me not unlike George Washington or Davy Crockett. At least He had graduated, in my mind, from just being another fictional character like the tooth fairy , Easter Bunny or Santa Claus.
“Jesus is as real as I am.” That’s what I heard Dr. J. Vernon McGee saying on a radio broadcast.
“I know you minister and preach and stuff, but what do you and Jesus DO together?” That was a question asked me by a college girl who attended church with me.
Is Jesus REAL to you? I mean is He REALLY real? During my many years of living single, people were always asking when I was going to get married again. “I AM married,” I would tell them. “I’m married to Jesus!” Yes, He had finally become real to me. VERY real.
I contend that, once we TRULY embrace the fact that we are accepted by the One who matters most in all the universe - God Himself, a VERY approachable, VERY loving family man, by the way  - we will receive all the validation we will ever need. Until this happens, we will seek validation from the opposite sex, from our awards, trophies and titles, and by keeping up with and surpassing the stuff owned by the Joneses. We may even seek validation through religion as we compare ourselves with ourselves, maybe even setting ourselves up as the standard to emulated by all others.
Jesus is real. He’s REAL! Do you know Him? If you don’t, how can you truly LOVE Him?
If you don’t, here’s something to consider: “Love” is spelled T-I-M-E. We fall in love with people with whom we spend TIME (that’s why we must guard our hearts in the workplace where we spend most of our time). So, spend time with Jesus. He wants RELATIONSHIP with you. Too often, all we give Him is Religion - a series of manmade do’s and dont’s, rules, regulations and traditions.
Some love affair!
A WATERSHED MOMENT
Years ago, I gave a ride to an incredible Christian woman from our congregation, Her car had broken down and she needed a ride to church. “Here’s my chance,” I thought. I couldn’t wait. No sooner was she in my car than I was asking, “What makes you so…so DIFFERENT?”
She chuckled and, in the time it took to get from her house to the church building, she gave me several of the most cherished, significant pieces of advice anyone has EVER given me. Ready? She said she did three things that had changed her walk with God:
1) She prayed every day, all day. Her life was a prayer. Prayer is two-way conversation. God is always teaching; we must be always learning.
2) She studied the Bible. She didn’t merely READ it. She didn’t look for a Holy “Thought for the day” verse as she ran out the door. She was panning for gold, examining every nugget.
3) She hung around with people she wanted to be like. She added that we all need a Paul, a Barnabas and a Timothy in our lives to keep the water ebbing and flowing and from getting stagnant.
I have purposed to live my life this way. No, I haven’t arrived but that woman’s 3 Tips have helped much more than the many sermons I’ve passively listened to and, soon after, forgot.
I hope that helps.
Every blessing,

About the Lakeland Outpouring…

Following is my response to the concerns of a Messianic Jewish man in Israel in regard to the current “Lakeland Outpouring.” Because I believe MANY are entertaining similar concerns about Todd Bentley and the “revival” taking place in Florida, I thought I’d post these comments. I have changed his name for this posting.

Thanks for your inquiry, David. Regarding Todd Bentley, I think it best to address Scriptural concerns with similar Scriptural occurrences. There’s nothing new under the sun, after all.

EDITORIAL – The Florida Outpouring; Not Your Grandmother’s Revival!
INTRODUCTION
I have just returned from Florida, having taken advantage of a small gap in my schedule to be refreshed and to experience firsthand what has been happening there nightly for the past two months. I also wanted be able to credibly respond to the many requests I have had from pastors and leaders asking me if this is real or not!

INTERNATIONALS

Driving down the one lane country road on a hot and dusty day in Lakeland, Florida, there seemed to be little local awareness that just around the corner the so called ‘Florida Outpouring’ is attracting thousands nightly, from many nations, to a tent the size of two football fields at a remote corner of the regional airport.

A sandy field acts as the parking lot while hundreds fight their way through the dust clouds and hot Florida sun to line up from mid-afternoon seven days a week.

THE OLD AND THE NEW

Noticeable from the outset is the strong flavor of the southern healing revivals of the fifties, but this isn’t your grandmother’s revival - or tent! This structure can hold 10,000 people, is air-conditioned and with state of the art sound, lighting and video screens.

Also, during my visit this week, out of the 7-8 thousand who came every day, I saw only one suit and tie. What was more common were shorts, T-shirts and tattoos! Noticeably absent was much evidence of the religious spirit, however, in essence this was more like a classic ‘Pentecostal’ revival, smacking of Benny Hinn, Rodney Howard-Brown, Toronto, Pensacola - but on steroids!

THE WRAPPING OR THE GIFT?
Some have made the observation that the American Church has been over-feminized in the last 40 years, but there is no evidence of that at this revival. There is almost a grungy, high level of testosterone about Todd Bentley’s ministry style and Roy Field’s worship leading that has determined the flavor of this outpouring, going every night for the last two months and showing no signs of abating.

Spiked hair, tattoos, studs and earrings pepper the crowd that has equal numbers of all generations and all walks of life, from folks in their eighties and nineties to lots of children. Teenagers were everywhere, passionately worshipping the Lord.

I can’t recall ever being enamored with the paper in which gifts I have been given were wrapped! But that has not stopped me from receiving the present. This outpouring is packaged in a way that may not appeal to traditionalists, but it is surely attracting a lot of the young generation, which is too often neglected by the vast bulk of churches in the USA.

RESURRECTIONS

A strong sense of the Lord’s presence even comes in the worship team’s rehearsal time an hour before the services begin every night. Hundreds of arms are lifted heavenward in front of the stage and stay there for up to three hours of the most intense worship I have experienced. Television and the Internet have played a major role in the rapid expansion of this revival, but it just does not match being there!

Then Todd takes the microphone and begins to proclaim healing for all kinds of diseases. Those healed testify to seeing from blind eyes, hearing from deaf eyes, loosing tumors and all kinds of diseases. While I was there it was announced that 18 people had been resurrected from the dead, directly or indirectly as a result of this outpouring.

A RISING TIDE

Many reports say that this ‘healing anointing’ has broken out in many other parts of the world and in several cities in the United States including Atlanta, Chicago, Charlotte, N.C. and other places. This is mostly as a result of those visiting Lakeland and taking the anointing back to their homes, but there have also been some reports of spontaneous breakouts of signs, wonders and miracles in places where no one has been to Florida. This has been the case in my own ministry up to now. We have seen an exponential increase in healings and the supernatural wherever we have ministered since mid-April, before we even heard about what was going on in Lakeland.

Although this ‘outpouring’ clearly revolves around Bentley and his staff, there is no question about where it is centered! While I was there, the focus unmistakably and repeatedly pointed to Christ!

FOR OR AGAINST?

All moves of God have had their passionate proponents and detractors, and this one is no different. Even this early on, there has been major controversy within Christianity with very little middle ground. Some of this has centered around the meaning of a tattoo on Todd’s body. I don’t personally care to have tattoos on my body, but I would rather have souls in the Kingdom with tattoos than on the outside without them!

All I could see was a holy hunger in those who came. It would be difficult to question the sincerity of that hunger, and even harder to think that God would not respond to the high level of passion directed squarely at Him, even if the critics were right and it was misguided!

FOCUS ON HIM

As for me, I did not go to Florida to meet with Todd Bentley, but to meet with God. And I encountered Him with an intensity that I have not experienced for a long time. I know that I can meet with God anywhere because He is everywhere, but if He is doing something special in a particular location, I want to be there. If I am misguided in going to Florida, I will have to trust that God will still honor my sincere desire to seek Him out wherever He may be.
Either way, I am believing that I will see much more fruit in my personal and ministry life. Fruit takes time and time will tell.

“For The Third Week In A Row Security Incidents In Iraq Are At The Lowest Levels In Four Years”

“In The First Five Months Of 2008 [Iraqi And Coalition Forces] Have Already Made Some 4,500 Finds Of Weapons Caches”

“Iraqi Security Forces Have Grown … To Some 559,000 In May Of This Year”

Maj. Gen. Kevin Bergner, MNF-I
Operational Update with Maj. Gen. Qassim Atta, Military Spokesman for Operation Fardh al-Qanoon
June 4, 2008
“For The Third Week In A Row Security Incidents In Iraq Are At The Lowest Levels In Four Years.” BERGNER: “For the third week in a row security incidents in Iraq are at the lowest levels in four years. These numbers reflect fewer attacks on Iraqi civilians, fewer attacks on Iraqi and Coalition Forces, and fewer attacks on the Government’s infrastructure.”
· “These security gains follow the coordinated offensive operations over the past year, and the recent security operations in Baghdad, Mosul, and Basra.”
· “They are being achieved today even as the fourth of five Brigade Combat Teams is returning home, and that includes two Marine battalions and a Marine Expeditionary Unit have already returned home.”
“A Key Factor In … Joint Operations Has Been The Steadily Increasing Capacity Of The Iraqi Security Forces.”
· “In the past 15 months, the Iraqi Security Forces have grown from 400,000 in June 2007 to some 559,000 in May of this year.”
· “Iraqi military leaders have planned, led, and executed recent operations in Iraq’s largest cities.”
· “Iraqi soldiers and police have shown their capacity to clear neighborhoods of thugs and criminals, and at the same time distribute emergency aid and take care of the local citizens.”
· “Iraqi pilots have increased the number of sorties flown to support ground operations. Iraqi sailors have re-established security at Iraq’s vital ports.”
“Weapons Found By Iraqi And Coalition Forces … Are On Pace To Well Exceed The Number Of Finds In 2007.” BERGNER: “The number of weapons found by Iraqi and coalition forces has increased in the last six months. In 2007, security forces made some 6,900 finds of weapons caches, but in the first five months of 2008 they have already made some 4,500 finds of weapons caches (close to double the numbers for 2005 and 2006) and are on pace to well exceed the number of finds in 2007.”

Secular report on the Florida Healing Outpouring

Hey, check this out! Even the secular media is starting to take notice. Have you heard about

what’s going on in Lakeland, Florida? I’m amazed at how few have told me they were aware
of anything at all going on there. In fact, one man who lives in Lakeland asked ME to tell
HIM about it!

There’s a huge revival going on there. Now, folks, this so-called “revival” may not be “it,”
but tell that to those who’ve been healed or whose lives have been changed as a direct result.
We must certainly agree that The Church not only needs revival, many of our affiliates
REALLY need to be “vived,” House Churchers included. We can argue doctrine till we’re
blue in the face but let us bear in mind the wise words of Gamaliel (Acts 5:38-39 AMP):
“…if this doctrine or purpose or undertaking or movement is of human origin, it will fail
(be overthrown and come to nothing); But if it is of God, you will not be able to stop or
overthrow or destroy them; you might even be found fighting against God!”

I’ve seen too much of this Lakeland thingy first-hand - lives changed directly as a result
of an impartation received from those who went to Lakeland - to convince myself that
God isn’t in this thing. Those I know who went there had an encounter with God, despite
Todd’s finest efforts, just as they are blessed by things I say and do and write in Jesus’
Name despite myself. I’m finding more and more that the problem begins when we think
that healing and spiritual gifts have anything to do with we Christians. Many miracles are
taking place in Lakeland, true, but many lives are being radically changed as a direct
result of exposure to all things Lakeland as well (I admit it, my computer monitor has its
share of finger prints on it, evidence of my reaching out to “get some” of what God is
pouring out in Lakeland). I’m not sure that this is “the” revival we’ve all been praying for
these many years, but I’m certain Jesus wasn’t the Messiah the Jews expected either. They
didn’t like the packaging maybe causing many dispensationalists to “pierce-a-cute” Todd
Bentley.

Let’s not forget that, per the Jim Rutz book “MegaShift” (get it!), radical miracles, including
resurrections - are taking place all over the planet. Though Lakeland has accounted for 19 at
last count, MegaShift is loaded with such happenings. Yes, we’re lagging way behind in the numbers
returning from the dead but, true to American form, we’ll boast even about our lower numbers,
thrilled to the core because, after all, we’re Americans. Truth is, all kinds of healing miracles are taking
place in homes, conference rooms, churches of all flavors all over the planet all the time these days.
Our dependence upon doctors, surgery, medicine, vitamins, oat bran and insurance have had us LESS
dependent upon Jesus and more like a big Nazareth. Could Lakeland be a great big microcosm of the
Church at Large in America right now? Is God taking back control of His Church?

Though I’ve been cautioned by well-meaning people to “toot my own horn” and NOT Bentley’s,
truth is, I prefer to toot the horn of Christ - the shofar, the ram’s horn used by the Jews to signal
an assembly - or to signal the start of a war. Honestly, I’ve been of the opinion that a type of
civil war was coming during my lifetime (I’m an American Civil War nut). I should have
considered that it might take place in The Church over the matter of revival. AFter all, Jesus declared in
Matthew 10: 34-36, “Don’t imagine that I came to bring peace to the earth! I came not to bring peace,
but a sword. ‘I have come to set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a
daughter-in-law against her mother-in- law. Your enemies will be right in your own household!’ “<
