What IS that in the Sky over S’ville?
It’s a bird!
It’s a plane!
It’s neither!
What’s going on in the sky over Stephenville, Texas? We locals don’t know because no one will tell us. One thing is certain; last night, my wife and I shared an experience we will always remember.
Allow me to clarify that I am not convinced that the things dozens of people are reporting are not merely manmade, experimental, prototype crafts. If they are “other-worldly” means of transportation, why are visitors from other galaxies making a pit-stop in Stephenville? Why now? Many people around here are seeing all kinds of night-time activity in the sky. We hear the jets and see their vapor trails criss-crossing our normally quiet skies. We read the stories, the rumors and there’s plenty of conjecture.
Why won’t the government fess up? As one blogger wrote in January ’07, “Some believe that the denial of the existence of UFOs is the biggest government cover-up of all time; others think that the government is perpetuating the abduction scenario to confuse and discredit witnesses. Some surmise the “grays” were created as the slaves for the annunaki, or lizard people, that they suspect are the real rulers of this world, the man behind the curtain and the serpent in the Garden of Eden. Others feel that we are in the midst of a great awakening and we will soon meet our galactic neighbors. And still others suggest it could be future “us” time traveling. Over the Christmas holiday, I saw Jack Van Impe, the prophetic televangelist, flash a couple news clips from NASA and implying that the New Jerusalem would be coming from space. And with the addition of KFC’s new billboard next to Area 51, that can be seen from space, it is enough to boggle any mind.”
Okee-dokee. This same blogger is also a believer in something referred to as “The Mothman Prophecies,” something many believe were actually a warning of bad things to come. In 1966, in Point Pleasant, West Virginia, people were reporting odd lights hovering over the river along with sightings of a strange-looking, 7-foot tall moth-like creature with huge red eyes. Shortly thereafter the bridge collapsed into the water killing 46 residents. There was a wave of UFO sightings in the years 1966 and 1967. There MUST be some correlation.
Could it be a coincidence that the American people were in turmoil at that time, burying their children killed in a war that was such a point of controversy, much as we are today?
What prophesied thingy is going to happen in good
ol’ Stephenville? Is all our milk going to sour? Is some-
one going to lose the recipe for Dublin Dr Pepper ? Is
our cow manure going to poison the water downstream
in Waco?
In January of 2008, S’ville made the news around
the world as dozens of people claimed to have
seen a spacecraft with a combination of red, white
and yellow lights flying fast over the countryside.
One observer believed the vessel to be about a
mile long. Others said they saw fighter jets
chasing it. A pilot, a cop I know personally, a
minister I know, some businessmen, housewives,
and kids all say they saw a UFO on the 8th. The
vessel moved over the area for several seconds,
witnesses said, and then zoomed out of sight.
It was rather incredible to read that on December 10, 2007, a Scottish evangelist recorded a prophecy on a Christian prophecy website, Elijahlist, a Word from God she supposedly received a month prior to the UFO sightings. Here it is:
“I see Texas ablaze and a stunning star, like the star from the east rising over the land. I hear the Spirit of the Lord saying to: “Watch for cosmic signs and wonders in Texas.” He said there will be a cosmological phenomenon that scientists cannot explain, and the media will carry as front-line news. People will begin to ask about “the Light.” They will remember the Child in the manger; the Lord is calling His Church to tell them about the Child in the manger and the Man of the Cross. For a period of four months–from Christmas to Easter–there will be a window of opportunity for salvations, signs, healing and wonders in Texas, and this season of extraordinary favor and grace will manifest and be confirmed in unusual cosmic occurrences.”
I haven’t heard any prophecies about our area recently, however, the message remains quite applicable. The window of opportunity STILL exists, however, for all Christians to share the story of the man who came from outer space (Jesus) and the many aliens who are only passing through and spending some time upon this planet (all Christians everywhere). Forward this email - that alone will get ‘em talking!
Businesses all over town had fun with the media attention last January as marquee messages began to read things such as, “UFO parking in rear” and “Aliens eat free.” Sales of rapidly-printed UFO T-Shirts sold like hotcakes (and are STILL selling). There were camera crews in town from Dallas/Fort Worth and the History Channel and A&E. Even representatives from MUFON were in town (Mutual UFO Network). Suddenly, the popular local monikers of “Cowboy Capital of the World” and “City of Champions” were taking a backseat to aliens – and NOT the kind from across the border.
They’re Baaaaack!
Recently, Stephenville has been in the news again. On one occasion, it was a Channel 8 reporter interviewing the Chamber President, July Danley. Nothing had been seen in the skies recently. It was merely a follow-up report on the impact last January’s sightings had on the community. Nobody would know better than July.
Then, about a week ago, some high schoolers in nearby Dublin spotted a disc-shaped object with lights all around it, hovering over the fields. Keeping their wits about them, one kid grabbed a video camera and squeezed off some footage that can now be seen all over the Internet (see end of this article).
A few days later, there was another news report about Stephenville where an aviation photography expert examined that kid’s photos to see if he could determine what kind of craft had been hovering over Dublin. Results were inconclusive, however, he had to admit it was something he’d never seen before (see end of this article).
October 28th: My oldest son, Justin, was leaving Chili’s restaurant with his wife, her dad (a minister) and various other relatives. As he described it to me, they were in the parking lot when they saw three sets of lights speeding through the sky. The three sets would separate and come back together, moving in such a way that he could only describe it as “creepy.” He said that jets were racing after the three crafts, “…but there was no way they were going to catch ‘em,” he added.
At the same time, a woman we know said she and her spouse were leaving a restaurant near the highest bridge in town and, while they were watching the UFO air show, police cruisers and unmarked cars came speeding over the bridge in the direction of Dublin. My wife and I recall the many distant sirens getting our attention from home as she jokingly said, “Let’s go chase ‘em,” as some rubber-neckers are prone to do.
Oh, what a night!
Last night, the 29th of October, just as our House Church fellowship was winding down, I received a call on my cell phone regarding yet another sighting. A friend was heading south toward Stephenville from Granbury and could see lights and jets over the town. It was about 7:15. We jumped in our neighbor’s van and off we went. As we drove, we could see vapor trails and lights from jets. LOTS of jets. In the distance, we saw what one man thought was Venus. I’ll call it the Great Star. Others thought it was the first star of the night while another woman was convinced that it was actually two lights stationed very close together.
The tiny jet lights were headed toward the Great Star. To the left of the Great Star was another really bright light I’ll call Great Star 2 (more on that in a moment). As we watched the first Great Star, suddenly, three yellowish lights - about 4 times LARGER than the Great Star itself – appeared where the Great Star was. After about 5 seconds, they faded and the Great Star reappeared. In about 10 seconds, a row of about six of these brighter lights appeared. They were curved, however, as if placed around the edge of something round or disk-shaped.
Man were we ever excited! It was something we will NEVER forget. We left the shoulder on the bridge at 7:54 and returned home, excitedly chattering about what we had seen. We saw other people standing along the road as we drove.
Upon our arrival, I received a final call from the woman who first alerted us. She and her carload were following the lights southward. The Great Star was now lower to the horizon, she reported, and was moving toward Dublin. The Great Star 2 had faded in intensity as if it had ventured farther out into the atmosphere.
We watched the news last night before lights out. Imagine our surprise: yet another story about Stephenville’s UFO’s! Yawn. My first words to my wife upon awakening today were, “You wanna go chase some UFO’s tonight?” We laughed.
Where’s the camera? The binoculars?
We contacted friends and relatives regarding the event. Some were excited while others were quite skeptical. I wondered about the testimony of many witnesses in contrast to the many fake UFO videos where someone tossed a pie plate over a house and shot pictures until they caught something creep enough to post on YouTube. In the case of the S’ville UFO phenomenon, we have video footage from January 2008 as well as that from last week AND eye-witness testimonies from DOZENS of people.
Myself included.
Was it Demonic?
I’ve been involved in more than a few exorcisms in my life. Based upon those experiences, I believe I have seen what the devil can do to humiliate and degrade people. Driven by a hatred of humanity, he does his best to destroy God’s creation. Through sickness, disease, deformities, addictions and retardation, he relentlessly attacks the bodies and minds of God’s creation. Through homo-sexuality, he attacks our manhood and femininity, mocking that which God has created and purposes for that which was intended.
Now, based upon my own eye-witness UFO experience, I cannot help but wonder if I have now seen yet another demonic technique geared toward confusing, mystifying, deceiving God’s people in a most convincing manner.
Sorry, I just can’t help it.
Like Christians lining up to pray at an oak tree where an image of the Virgin Mary had been supposedly spotted in the bark or burned into a taco shell, others may be Googling and piling into vans in order to catch a glimpse of…something.
Friends, if it has to do with our five senses, it can be deceived. Smoke and mirrors, slight of hand, we can be made to believe we heard or saw or felt things. As the Master Deceiver, do we really believe that the one who brought us elves, gnomes, trolls, fairies, brownies and all sorts of li’l people throughout the ages cannot also bring us ET’s, “Grays” and Motherships, logically speaking, that is?
Scripture reveals that we humans can easily become deceived and believe lies. 2 Thessalonians 2:8-13:
8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:?9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,?10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.?11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:?12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
From this scripture we can see that Satan is well able to perform “signs and lying wonders.” Could UFO manifestations be among these? Hey, David Copperfield made an elephant vanish, right? God’s supernatural signs and wonders will always bring glory to God and point people to Jesus Christ - nothing and no one else. We must have the discernment to know what is of God and what is not of Him. This only comes as we know Him personally and know more of His Word.
Supernatural phenomenon surrounding UFO’s in different areas can many times be traced to the practice of witchcraft in that area. Trust me, there is quite a bit of that going on all around us, especially with Satan’s high unholy day (Halloween) approaching. When corporate Satanic practices are going on in certain vicinities, unexplained sounds as well as weird displays of sights, lights, and electrical shorts are often reported. These will occur without any natural explanation as they are coming from the spirit world (request my E-Book, “The Battle of Caelum Moor: A True Story of Spiritual Warfare”). Many times the practices by witches will conjure up these sorts of demonic manifestations. One of these practices is the slaying, blood letting and castrating of cattle or other animals. People who know nothing of the spirit world think these deaths were the result of extraterrestrial beings preying on poor animals. The truth is, Satan’s followers are seduced into animal sacrifices in order that they might know higher levels of his power.
Can we agree that all unexplained sightings or strange manifestations have their origination from one of two sources: the “natural” or the “supernatural”? If the source is something in the natural, it can be explained by scientists or those responsible for the occurrence, right?
But what about unexplained lights in the sky that don’t show up on radar such as the lights over S’ville? If no physical explanation can be found for this phenomenon then we must assume we are dealing in the “supernatural” or spiritual realm. Can we ALSO agree that all “supernatural” occurrences come from one of two sources: Satan or God?
Satan is the enemy of God and tries to lead people into deception by taking their attention to things that are not of God in order to ensnare them. These days, there’s a great deal of emphasis on UFO’s and aliens (extraterrestrial, terrestrial and subterranean beings)…could this be a disguise for Satanic activity? After all, they are bent on leading people astray, confusing them, and keeping their focus OFF Jesus, the Way, the Truth and the Life. Belief in them has even led to in-fighting among Christians of varying opinions regarding their existence. Could it be, then, that Satan’s tactic is to blind people to the Gospel of Jesus Christ by capturing their minds with a philosophy that incorporates a belief in UFO’s and aliens? As Corinthians 2:11 can attest, we are not ignorant of Satan’s schemes.
I’m just asking the question to keep us thinking, folks. Too often, we are all guilty of checking our brains at the door. Whether demons appear through a sweating, thrashing college girl with a manly voice as she spews curses on a deliverance team during an exorcism, or as aliens sticking their tongues out at F-16 fighter jets as folks like us watch in amazement from down below, fact is, when they come, their mission is to kill, steal and destroy; killing our faith in God, stealing our peace of mind, destroying our trust in Scripture.
The Bible: the Truth is in There!
What does the Bible have to say about this UFO stuff? Let’s look at a verse that will give us some answers as to what is going on in the world at this time. In Matthew 24:3-14, Jesus gives us a description of our day:
3 … what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world??4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.?5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.?6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.?7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.?8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.?9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake.?10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.?11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.?12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.?13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.?14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
This scripture tells us that in the time that Christ is to return, these conditions will be taking place. Jesus particularly warns His people against “deception.”
2 Corinthians 11:13-15 says:
13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming
themselves into the apostles of Christ.?14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an
angel of light.? 15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be
transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end
shall be according to their works.
How can we protect ourselves from this sort of deception? The Bible tells us that we must study the Bible so we can know what the Scriptures tell us about this kind of thing.
Also, regarding deception, Luke 21:8 says,
Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them.
Finally, 2 Timothy 3:13-17 and 2 Timothy 4:1 remind us:
13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.?14 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;?15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.?16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:?17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.? 4:1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom.
I thought about this verse from Acts last night as I looked skyward, especially as I spotted the first vapor trail from a jet. Acts 2:19:
And I will show wonders in the sky above and signs on the earth beneath, blood and fire and smoking vapor…
Sigh. I’m not looking forward to that “blood and fire” part.
Every blessing,
