Things I love about Halloween
My least favorite of all holidays, Halloween DOES incorporate my favorite candies (caramels and candy corn).
Here are a few of my other favorite things about Halloween:
FAVORITE GHOST:
The Holy Ghost
FAVORITE HALLOWEEN COSTUMES:
The Full Armor of God, Angels and The Robes of Righteousness
FAVORITE FACT:
Whether it’s Halloween or Resurrection Sunday, TODAY is the day that the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be
glad in it (regardless of WHAT Hallmark calls the occasion).
FAVORITE LIE EXPOSED:
Though many cultures celebrate this as a day having something to do with death, the return of dead spirits,
ghouls, ghosts, demons, monsters, etc., in contrast, we can be born again and resurrected. We serve a God
who loves to bring dead things back to life, not to haunt but to bless!
FAVORITE WITCHES:
None! Though Halloween may be the High Unholy day for witches and satanists, these poor souls have been
deceived. Who will share with them the truth and the love of Christ if not US! These people are NOT the
enemy. Jesus died for them, too! Pray for them!
FAVORITE HALLOWEEN ALTERNATIVES:
1) Prayer on the Square: Rent a booth at your town’s Halloween festival (ours is on the Town Square). Give
candy but offer to pray for kids and parents. Have Prayer Request forms available for those who prefer that
method. Pray over those requests later.
2) Don’t abandon the holiday all together. Substitute some Christian alternatives. My kids recall the Halloween
when we passed out candy and Christian coloring books and tracts from our apartment. They carved a “Jesus”
pumpkin earlier and we shut the lights, ate baked pumpkin seeds and candy, and watched the Cary Grant movie,
“Arsonic and Old Lace.”
3) Offer House Blessings to your community. Run an ad or post signs that read, “Is your house haunted? We can help!”
Be advised: Do NOT do this if you are not experienced at it.
4) An Old-Fashioned Prayer Meeting. Whatever one thinks of Halloween, there are an awful lot of crimes and
dangerous things that can happen with so many people out that night, some of whom are actually conjuring up
demonic activity.
Every blessing,
Michael Tummillo
