Peace. Be still. The Father loves you.

I’m no political expert. However, I DO know when I’m sensing fear. These days – even among Christians – it’s everywhere.

Recently, a Christian contractor friend told me how many people are backing out from their building projects. Next day, a Christian ad salesman reported that many people are cutting back and canceling ad programs, even though the time to spend the bulk of an ad budget is when business is bad (soon they’ll be advertising their businesses for sale). Have you heard about the recent “runs” on banks with customers taking their money out by the millions within hours?

I’m convinced that there is one people group on the face of the planet that holds the one cure for what ails us.

No, not politicians.

Sorry, it’s not the government.

It’s The Church. The Body of Christ. You and me, my friends.

Who else is filled with the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead? What other group has received the Power of the Holy Spirit coming upon them? Recessions and Depressions don’t stand a chance against a praying Church. Neither do Demonic Possessions, for that matter. The power that devils have is the power that The Church gives them. They have no power but deception and it’s when we choose to walk by sight and not by faith that the enemy can really get some serious licks in.

What concerns me right now is the vast numbers of fear-filled Christians who are placing themselves in agreement with the bad reports of the devil. They’re paying no heed to the seriousness of the power of agreement! When someone is diagnosed with an illness, and they come for healing prayer, do we agree with the doctor’s report or that of the Lord which says they “WERE healed by the stripes of Jesus”?

Likewise, do we agree with the negative reports of the talking heads and so called “experts” I regard to our current financial “opportunity to overcome,” or do we exercise our faith and confess the Scripture that says, “My God will supply all my needs according to His riches in glory”?

You see, fear is faith in what Satan says. WE are to be Prayer WARRIORS, nor Prayer WORRIERS. Stop watching the bad news and start reading the Good News.

Consider the following verses from Scripture. Then, stop worrying and start worshiping our God – the God who is crazy nuts in love with you (John 3:16).

Here are those wonderful verses for your prayerful consideration:

Romans 8:28 tells us, “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”

Hebrews 1:3 says Christ “upholds all things by the word of His power.”

Colossians 1:17 says that “in Him all things hold together.”

Proverbs 19:21 confirms that while the plans of human beings are not always accomplished, God’s plans always succeed: “Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but the counsel of the Lord, it will stand.”

John the Baptist informs us that, “A man can receive nothing, unless it has been given him from heaven” (John 3:27).

“The Lord makes poor and rich; He brings low and He also exalts” (1 Samuel 2:7).

“For the kingdom is the Lord’s, and He rules over the nations” (Psalm 22:28).

“And it is He who changes the times and the epochs; He removes kings and establishes kings; He gives wisdom to wise men, and knowledge to men of understanding” (Daniel 2:21).

“The Most High is ruler over the realm of mankind, and bestows it on whom he wishes…” (Daniel 4:17).

Salvation “does not depend on the man who wills or the man who runs, but on God who has mercy” (Romans 9:16).

Humans are not in control. In fact, we do not even have ultimate control over our slightest actions, for “mortals as they walk cannot direct their steps.” But if humans do not direct their steps, who does? Proverbs 16:9 tells us: “The mind of the man plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.”

Romans 11:36 says, “For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen.”

Lamentations 3:37 asks rhetorically, “Who can speak and have it happen if the Lord has not decreed it?”

Furthermore, God controls the wind and lightning (Psalm 135:7), the snow and the rain (Job 37:6-13), and directs the stars in their courses (Job 38:32). Forest fires, hail, and storms are all under his command: “Fire and hail, snow and clouds; stormy wind, fulfilling His word” (Psalm 148:8). Even the sun does not simply rise on its own each day, rather God “causes His sun to rise” (Matt. 5:45). Neither does the grass grow on its own, but God “causes the grass to grow” (Psalm 104:14). God feeds the animals (Matthew 6:26; Psalm 104:27-29) and indeed controls even the most seemingly insignificant death of a sparrow (Matthew 10:29). God sends rain and withholds rain (Amos 4:7-10). There is nothing in the universe left to chance: “The lot is cast in the lap, but its every decision is wholly from the Lord” (Proverbs 16:33). Nothing in all creation–the weather, the stars, the plants, the animals, the affairs of nations, the role of dice, and the specific details of our lives–is outside of the sovereign control of God.

Finally, in John 5:30, even Jesus said, “I can do nothing on my own.”

Let’s follow HIS example and put ALL our faith in God!

Every blessing,
Michael Tummillo
