Subject: Who’s in charge around here anyway?

Frankly, you are.

Do you realize that you have within you all the power required to totally change the environment of your workplace? That’s either 100% TRUE or it’s a lie. Romans 8:11 tells us that the SAME SPIRIT that raised Jesus from the dead DWELLS WITHIN US. That’s some kind of power, wouldn’t you agree? Problem is (A) Most Christians are being decieved into believing anything BUT that truth or (B) are’t being taught that truth AT ALL.

Let’s talk about Obed-Edom, remember him? When King David was transporting the Ark of the Covenant, the cart tipped and one of David’s men - a guy named Uzzah - reached out to steady the Ark. The man died instantly and David, now angry with God, chose NOT to allow the Box of God into his fair city. Instead, he had the Ark placed on the property of a man named Obed-Edom (2 Samuel 6:11, 1 Chronicles 13:14).

In time, word got back to the King that everything about Obed-Edom’s life had been blessed by the very presence of God contained within the box in just three months. David repented and brought the Ark into Jerusalem.

These days, we’re under “a new and better covenant.” The Spirit of God no longer dwells within a box - not even a box with doors and windows (better known as a Church building). No, Immanuel - God with us - dwells within His people.

Most of us just don’t know it yet.

If we did, the supernatural would be more natural. We’d EVEN acknowledge that, yes, we have all the power necessary to transform our workplaces…our communities…this nation.

Years ago, I was the groundskeeper at a 185-unit mobile home park. It was a sweaty, dirty job. The manager, a Christian woman whose daughter I baptized in a river, was eventually offered another property to manage. She recommended me to the owner as a possible candidate for her position, complete with the nicest home/office on the grounds.

In time, as relationships were established with residents through office visits as they paid rent, and as a result of my blatantly Christian newsletter, Bible studies sprang up. People began building pretty decks and planting flowers. The place started to look like a sueaky-clean Chevrolet or CocaCola commercial. The profile of residents changed from ex-cons, witches, drug addicts and wife-beaters to retired ministers and good Christian families. I would drive around picking up residents to take to church on Sunday’s. Yes, the environment definitely changed in amazing ways. At night - before I ever heard of Prayer Walking - I would walk the property, oil in hand, anointing every car, mailbox and lamp post.

Miracle after undeniable miracle took place there. For example, one night, just as I entered my home, the Holy Spirit directed me to go for a walk. I KNEW it was Him so I took off into the park, not knowing why. As I was returning home, I saw a mobile home with its door open and I could see the lady who owned it standing in the kitchen, face buried in her hands, crying and sweaty. I approached cautiously and tappebd on the wall. She was startled but, wen she recognized me, she motioned me in. I climbed the stairs, not knowing what to expect. Her infant boy was in his walker, hair plastered to his face with perspiration. The woman never said a word before the Spirit told me, “She was raped and she’s afraid she’s pregnant.” I repeated those words to her, she dropped to the floor, crying and shaking her head, “How did you know? Nobody knows…?”

After she put her son to bed, we sat up all night on the front steps talking. The next day, as I was walking through the park, she pulled up in her car alongside me and said, “If you ever feel like your life isn’t worth living, I want you to know that, before you knocked on my door last night, I was thinking about killing myself and my son.”

Turned out, she was separated from her spouse. He had become a Christian while he was gone and later returned to her, Bible in hand and carrying roses. She wasn’t pregnant but, later, she and her husband did have another baby.

I could share story after story of similar examples that took place in workplace settings. I was being paid to do my job but I knew full-well that God was my Provider, not the corporation.

Point is, I was in charge there…just as you are where YOU work…put in charge by God Almighty. I was unable and unwilling to do anything of any Kingdom consequence without His say-so.  Jesus set that example and we must be “imitators of Christ.”

So, next time you clock-in, remember who really is in charge around there. Then, take charge with the authority you’ve been given!

Give ‘em Heaven!

Every blessing,

Jesus did not preach a message of salvation, but one of the Kingdom of God, which is the rule and reign of God in our hearts. I resonate with this message, that when we go somewhere, we are literally brining the presence of the LORD there with us. He asked us to pray, “come Thy Kingdom, be done Thy will, on earth as it has been done in Heaven”. In the coming revival we will see this.
