TGI-Wednesday!
It’s time we Christians get over what we commonly refer to as “hump day.” Are we excited about Wednesday because we’re half way through with a dismal work week, or excited because we’re that much closer to the weekend and an opportunity to “refuel” in preparation for what God has planned for us NEXT week at work?
Work is not a bad thing. It is, after all, is a blessing from God.
“Avodah” is a Hebrew word meaning both “work” and “worship.” “Work” in its different forms is mentioned more than 800 times in the Bible, more than all the words used to express worship, music, praise, and singing COMBINED. In some verses the word means “work,” as in to work in the field and to do common labor:
Exodus 34:21 - “Moses renewing the covenant with God says, “Six days you shall work (adovah),”
Psalm 104:23- “Then man goes out to his work (avodah), to his labor until evening.”
In other verses, Adovah means “worship,” as in to worship God, having little to do, but not excluding, Sunday morning sing-along time.
Joshua 24:15 - “…but as for me and my household, we will serve (avodah) the Lord.”
Exodus 8:1 - ‘This is what the LORD says: Let my people go, so that they may worship (avodah) me.
Taken together, Avodah suggests that our work can be a form of worship where we honor the Lord God and serve others through our jobs and lifestyle.
It’s an attitude of the heart.
It’s not about us.
There’s a reason why Rick Warren’s “Purpose Driven Life” was such a big hit. There’s a reason why “The Secret” got so much attention as well.
Inquiring minds wanna know!
One of most commonly asked questions is “What is the meaning of life?” Jesus said “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life.” The Life? Ok, so Jesus is life itself? If we know Him, we must, therefore, know Life. The basic problem is that “life” really has become all about us and not enough about Him and His purposes.
My job.
My family.
My health.
My diabetes.
My boss.
My husband.
My vacation.
My, oh, my! It really IS all about us, isn’t it? Our own lips betray us. “Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.”
No wonder so many are so frustrated and discontent. TIP OF THE DAY: We aren’t from here. We’re aliens; sojourners; stangers in a strange land. Do NOT try to get comfy because you won’t ever get that way. You don’t belong here.
Since today really is the first day of the rest of your life, why not purpose in your heart to make THIS Wednesday the beginning of a new worshipful (worship-filled) way of living. After all, it’s what you were created to do.
Every blessing,

The concept of a job is a curse to an Israelite. A good Jew starts a business; a “job” is no more than becoming an indentured servant. Now they check your credit and make you pee in a cup; welcome to Fascist WarMerica.
Wake up from the matrix saints there aint no rapture coming to save you from the RIFD chip; buy land and a copw quick.
