Report on Uganda TeleConference
As scheduled, I received a phone call from Sabila Adams, a Kenyan minister, at about 2AM in Texas on Friday night. It was daytime there. I had received an eMail from a Pastor Lawrance Bukose from Bukwo district, Uganda on Januaruy 10th. He wrote, “Receive my special invitation to minister on phone in our conference which is due on 19th to 20th this month. Mr Sabila informed me more about you and how God is using you through deliverance, teaching and discipleship trainings. We, the people of Bukwo churches, all denominations, would be highly honored to have you minister to us on the phone…”
On January 15th, Lawrance wrote, “The preparations are already on. Many after hearing that a servant of God will be ministering on phone, have decided to abort their programmes purposely to come to our church. All denominations will be gathering at our church at 7:30am untill 6;00pm East African local time from 19th to 20th.You will the guest speaker and Adams will be representing you as he ministers throughout the training. He will be also your interpreter. So we are ready to hear from you with any timely message the lord will give you for His people…”
Now, I’m not sure if people came to hear a Word from the Lord or to hear a man in Texas minister by phone. If it was the former, they were surely blessed DESPITE my finest ministerial efforts. If it were the latter, well…they took the bait of this unusual ministry method and were certainly blessed.
I cannot recall a time when I felt so strongly directed by the Holy Spirit to minister ONLY as He directed. If anyone was blessed by the Teleconference, it was surely me. I ministered on “Why Jesus is called ‘King of kings.’ ”
As we wound up the call at 3 am Texas time, Adams testified how people were being ministered to even as we spoke and how “deliverance has surely come to many people.” He told me that people were still coming as he could see them converging upon the church. When I asked if they were driving he said, “No, there are no roads. They are walking.” He had previously informed me that it had been raining heavily and, when the rain had stopped, many people were now traveling their way.
The very idea of people walking in the mud and humidity to hear me preach motivated me to preach again. Adams was delighted and invited me to call again in 2 hours. I tried taking a 2-hour nap but to no avail. At 5:30 am, I called again and, according to Adams, the people were already waiting. It was glorious. I ministered on “The Kingdom of God and The Church.” During the ministry time, hands were laid upon the sick by those in attendance (I specified that they NOT wait for a minister for each of them are ministers. They liked the sound of that.) and all prayed to receive the Holy Spirit without measure. As we closed, I instructed them to hug at least three people and say to them, “You look like Jesus!” I could hear them, laughing an embracing each other as they exclaimed, “You look like Jesus! Ha! Ha!” It was awesome. VERY sweet and quite powerful. Adams said there are many testimonies that he will soon be sharing.
Why am I sharing this? Aside from the fact that I think it’s a wonderful testimony, I’d like to encourage YOU to seek similar unusual methods of ministry. I’ve done ‘em all. From taking a Youth group to the mall to stuff tracts in clothing on the racks to calling random phone numbers out of the phone book and asking if we could pray to door-knocking to food distribution, the sky is the limit. The key is that little is much in God’s hands. He can do a great deal with our most meager of efforts.
If we do NOTHING, He can do nothing. You see, for whatever reason, God chooses to co-labor with man. He’s a family man and this is a family business.
Moses offered his rod when he was asked by the Father, “What’s that you have in your hand?” Likewise, we must merely be AVAILABLE and OBEDIENT, submitting whatever we have for Kingdom use.
If all you have is your job, three mortgages and two divorces, give these things to God. He can do much more with what you have than you can.
He can do miracles!
Every blessing,
Michael Tummillo
A servant of God
