Subject:  Severe persecution to Christians in Orissa

Dear friends in the Lord, Reverend Janice & Dave Woodrum,

Please know that there is severe persecution going on against the Christians communities in  Kandhamal district of  Orissa state.  Heavy persecution begun on the eve of Christmas

Celebration from 24^th December 2007 evening.

Rioters going on the rampage attacking churches, prayers halls, houses and vehicles in kandhmal district. Hindu people (thousands in number) started destroying the small churches , Prayer Halls as well as town churches in  BaraKhama, Jaleshpata, Baliguda , Daringbadi, Bramhanigaon and Phulbani region.

The troublemakers (miscreants) were instigated by one of their guru (Priest) named Swami laxmananda Swarasati.  Who is member of Viswa Hindu Parisad.

The Hindu people burnt more than sixty village churches, hundreds of houses  and have tortured the Christian women, children and men in the villages and small towns.

Hundreds of Christian believers have fled inside the dense forests to save their life.

The Mob killed more than fifty (50) Christian people in different location. Thousands of Christian people have lost their houses with all their properties within few days.

It is a terrible situation among the Christians in the region.

Many pastors, evangelists and believers have been hiding inside the jungles to save their life.  It is almost six days these people are hiding in the forests without food, clothes and proper drinking water.

I am writing this e-mail with much grief and agony with many tears.

I cannot help any thing to these people  who are in  terrors and danger.  

Communication is disrupted as all roads are blocked  with big trees . No transportation facility to go and see the people.

Because Government has failed to control the situation, very late the government has deployed police forces in the villages with curfew.

Till now curfew remained clamped in several villages.

Also the mischief mongers damaged a telephone exchange, several police van, and set afire the police stations in different places. The chief minister has urged the people of the district to maintain peace and harmony.

In this awful situation I do request all my brothers and sister in Christ to pray for Orissa

 Let us help the affected people with some food and clothes at least.

As the Lord God prompts you, please come forward and exhibit your Christian love and compassion to these persecuted Christians at the earliest.

Me and my associates will be going among the people to help them what ever way possible. Praise God, we are keeping well with all our children in the orphanage.

 I look forward to your prayerful response in emergence.
