Are YOU having a bad day?
As you may know, I have been privileged to mentor nearly two dozen 3rd world ministers, several of which are located in Kenya. One of the more peaceful nations in Africa the last 40 years, the nation is suffering much civil unrest at this time for political reasons. Following is a message from one of these ministers, a message he wrote to my friend, Ben Wardlaw. Please pray for these brothers and sisters in Kenya. Think of them if you’re having a tough time.
DEAR BEN,
Kenya needs an urgent assistance and prayer for God to intervene. Thousands of civilians have been displaced by violence related to political disputes between the opposition and the current government. More than 2000 houses have been set on fire destroying properties worth millions of money. The situation of women and children is very pathetic, no food, shelter and water.
According to the government spokesman, at least 100,000 people have been displaced and more than 1000 people have been killed and burned alive in their homes. Churches have not been spared either, K.A.G, Winners Chapel and other denominations have been set a blaze forcing those who had sought for refuge in churches to flee to the police stations. Most of the police stations are very congested many sleeping outside. No communications, air time cards are not available for one to communicate, cyber shops closed, shops closed, no food, no electricity and essential things for a living. People are starving and the situation is worsening every single hour. If the government and the opposition will not come to a place of agreement through dialogue, the Kenyan people will be in trouble within a short time.
My family is in complete fear, we don’t know what to do, the borders have been closed and there are no means of transport to travel. We are spending most of the nights in the bush fearing what may happen at night. We are not very safe, I am living with my relative and most of them are suffering from malaria due to the bites of mosquitoes out side at night.
Realizing the pain earned from multiple destruction and losses of lives in Kenya, we are a appealing to our international friends, brothers and ministries to pray for us and Kenya at large. What Kenya needs at the moment is peace, the displaced to find homes, children to find safety.
May the lord work through this to stir your hearts for a deeper concern to pray for Kenya.
God bless,
Harron Sabila
