Can ya help The Church in Kenya?
I am currently planning a telephone Leadership Conference with Brother Gideon
Mudenyo in Kenya. We spoke by phone yesterday morning, a conversation
that was interrupted - never completed - because of lightning strikes. His region
has been greatly impacted by recent flooding. Following are some excerpts
from recent letters Gideon has sent me:
I appreciate for your prayers towards us. I thank you so much for standing
with us in prayer. It has not been easy since August due to floods which has
killed and displaced many people in Budalang’i and other parts of Kitale. We
were forced to postpone most of our evangelistic mission events. It was
sorrowful to see people perish and loose their properties, children especially
affected as they are not able to withstand the situation, cold and rains etc.
Your prayers strengthened us, gave us hope and opened the windows of
heaven to give life to the people.
We are planning to contact a special feeding of the flood victims this week.
This will be an avenue to encourage and give hope to this people. We will be
telling them why the Lord loved them and spared their lives. Pray for this
event that it will be successful and that God will provide enough to feed His
people.
The people in Budalang’i have been affected for more that 10 years now.
Every year they have been displaced and others killed. We are believing
God to supply that we buy some land in the upper Busia region which is
not to expensive and relocate some of them. Continue praying for God’s
intervention…
We have been forced to cancel our Mumias mission this week due to the
floods that have affected most of our people around Kitale outskirts and
Busia. The meeting will therefore be held in Mumias in December but
this week we are putting efforts together to see how we could help them.
Yesterday we divided ourselves into two groups. One group led by Pastor
Alex Masika and One group led by Pastor Chris. I am the co-ordinator of
both events and will be required to do a lot of traveling co-ordinating this
events as Busia is very far from Kitale.
Since most of the people dont have the permanent houses, but only made of the
earth/ soil. It only takes minutes for the waters to bring this houses down.
Also most people do not sleep on beds but on the floor when the water gets in
the house most children perish.
In Kitale (Namanjala village) more than 2,000 people were displaced, Moses
Wangila, our Kitale Church leader, Pastor Harun Shikuku’s Parents and
most of the church members in Kitale were affected. Most of their properties
were swept by waters, they lost many things and only managed to escape and
save their lives. We have been spending there since Sunday to help them,
Though sometimes it becomes so difficult staying with people who are hungry
they need food and you do not have the food to give them. When they need
medicine as some of them have fallen sick due to the cold and insect bite but
we have no money to treat them. But we thank God that at least even if we do
not have enough money to help but we are with them and encouraging them.
Brothers continue praying with us, that God will bring to an end this heavy
rains and that the floods stop, and that the Lord will help us to accomplish
what the Lord wants us do…
I am doing much of evangelism and compassion Ministry, going to help
the people affected by the floods and other disasters, Muslims have taken
advantage of this and many people are following after them as they know
Muslims will give them food and medication. But we are so glad God is
using us to reach many people also.
I helped plant 43 churches in The Lord’s Ministries, and organize for
so many conference as well as lead missions to helping the orphans,
poor, widows etc. I recently begun a house church that has 11 people.
People are so much rooted in other doctrines and sects and cultures
that have dragged people a way from the will of God.
May God bless you.
Yours in Christ,
Pastor Gideon Mudenyo

My recent appeal to nearly 13,000 eMail addresses yielded a mere $100 offering
from the Church in the Western world. Surely, we can do better than that.
My 25 years in the Advertising Industry has taught me that, contrary to what
may say, there is not an “entertainment dollar.” There is not a “dining dollar” or
a “housing dollar.” There is ONLY one dollar and everybody, including churches,
are vying for your support. requests to assist the poor may not cry out for your
attention like, say, a burger commercial or a Mercury car. But the needs are there.
Jesus said, “I’m telling the solemn truth: Whenever you did one of these
things to someone overlooked or ignored, that was me—you did it to me.”
Simply go to www.PayPal.com and send your gifts for me to FORWARD to
these poor people. Please do this NOW, while you’re thinking about it. If we
all do a little, we can accomplish MUCH!
Friends, I know MANY other ministries in similar situations. My promise to
you is that, when you send money to assist with these needs, I’ll get it where
it needs to go. No, it’s not tax-deductible. Yes, we have relationship with the
people we assist. Their needs are often so basic. And we have so much in
comparison. Please help. Thank you!
Every blessing,
Michael Tummillo
A servant of God
