Will America go a Bridge too far?

The following facts about the recent Minnesota bridge collapse are, if

nothing else, REALLY interesting.

Abraham Lincoln, March 30, 1863…

We have been the recipients of the choicest bounties of Heaven. We

have been preserved, these many years, in peace and prosperity. We

have grown in numbers, wealth and power, as no other nation has

ever grown.

But we have forgotten God.

We have forgotten God.

We have forgotten the gracious hand which preserved us in peace,

and multiplied and enriched and strengthened us; and we have

vainly imagined, in the deceitfulness of our hearts, that all these

blessings were produced by some superior wisdom and virtue of

our own. Intoxicated with unbroken success, we have become too

self-sufficient to feel the necessity of redeeming and preserving

grace, too proud to pray to the God that made us!

It behooves us then, to humble ourselves before the offended Power,

to confess our national sins, and to pray for clemency and

forgiveness.

From Lincoln’s perspective, as he stated in his famous Gettysburg Address

just 4 months earlier, only about “four score and seven years” earlier, our

forefathers had “set forth upon this continent.” She had gone from a wild landcape

of forests, mountains, prairies and rivers to a land dotted with cities and villages,

dirt roads and railroads. She had defended herself against the most powerful

nation on earth, bridled its native inhabitants, and was now rich in shipping,

mining, farming and manufacturing. From the viewpoint of “Father Abraham” -

the name by which the slaves he had emancipated referred to him - America

had been enormously blessed in so little time!

“A house divided cannot stand.” Lincoln is famous for having said

those words, too, as he referred to this nation, involved in a bloody Civil War.

Fact is, those words were taken straight from Scripture.

(Matt 12:25).

Ironically, ”seven score and four” years later, a great highway now divides our

nation. It is called “I-35,” a vital link from the North to the South, a major

interstate running from nearly from Canada (Duluth, MN) to the Gulf of Mexico

(a stop light in Laredo, TX). I drive that thoroughfare all the time as I traverse

the Dallas-Fort Worth area, performing my duties as a Workplace Chaplain.

A bridge on that highway, one that crosses the Mississippi River and runs East

to West, collapsed recently in Minnesota.

Perhaps you’ve heard.

A ROAD MUCH-TRAVELED

Yes, this highway divides our nation, splitting it in half, and it has been

a blessing to many travelers. However, we, as a nation, must not be

divided as a people - The Church especially for there is NO POWER

without unity. Sadly, if ever a thing exemplified a house divided today,

before our eyes, that describes us.

This nation, founded upon Christian principles, must never divide its

allegiance between the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, and the

Muslim god whom many experts and converted Muslims claim is really

the so-called “Moon God.” According to Middle East scholar E.M.

Wherry, whose translation of the Quran is still used today, in pre-Islamic

times, Allah-worship, as well as the worship of Ba-al, were both astral

religions in that they involved the worship of the sun, the moon, and

the stars (A Comprehensive Commentary on the Quran, Osnabruck:

Otto Zeller Verlag, 1973, p. 36).

Did you notice? “Allah” is a PRE-Islamic term. In other words,

Muhammad did NOT introduce his people to God by way of the Quran.

The Quran is NOT merely another book that God used to introduce

another people group to Himself. That should be clear to anyone who

compares the character of the Almighty God with Allah.

“The name Allah goes back before Muhammad” (Encyclopedia of

World Mythology and Legend, I:41, Anthony Mercatante, New York,

The Facts on File, 1983).

“The origin of this (Allah) goes back to pre-Muslim times. Allah is not

a common name meaning “God” (or a “god”), and the Muslim must use

another word or form if he wishes to indicate any other than his own

peculiar deity” (Encyclopedia of Religion and Ethics, I:326, Hastings).

Who is this “Allah”? Many converted Muslims will tell you that he is

a demon prince, perhaps the Prince of Persia with whom the archangel

Michael tangled in the Book of Daniel, chapter 10:13-21.

Thinking spiritually, folks, has that demon prince been welcomed -

invited - onto our very shores, even while his minions wreak havoc on

his stomping grounds in the Middle East and American soldiers die?

ON THE ROAD AGAIN

I read what Wikipedia.org had to say about the I-35W Mississippi River

Bridge. Have you ever read the Bible’s I-35? Now, there’s another fascinating

resource! Isaiah 35 is a complete chapter in only 10 verses.  The final three

verses declare…
“A highway shall be there, and a road, and it shall be called the Highway

of Holiness. The unclean shall not pass over it, but it shall be for others.

Whoever walks the road, although a fool, shall not go astray. No lion

shall be there, nor shall any ravenous beast go up on it; it shall not be

found there. But the redeemed shall walk there, and the ransomed of the

Lord shall return, and come to Zion with singing, with everlasting joy

on their heads. They shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorry and

sighing shall flee away.” (Isaiah 35:8-10)

Hmmmmm.

Minnesota’s I-35 bridge was built 40 years ago, officially opening in

November of 1967. Coincidentally, in that same year, on August 1, Israel

officially claimed the WEST BANK and annexed East Jerusalem. By the

way, the neighborhood where the bridge collapsed is called Cedar-

Riverside but is known by the locals as “the WEST BANK” and has a high

concentration of Muslims, about 75%, and is filled with Mediterranean Deli’s,

mosques, Muslim cab drivers and students who attend the nearby University

of Minnesota.

WHERE DID YOU GO FOR SUMMER VACATION?

In yet another interesting coincidence, in 2006, Minnesota had our

nation’s first Muslim sworn into Congress using a Quran rather than a

Holy Bible, Keith Ellison, a state lawmaker who converted to Islam as

a University of Minnesota student from which he graduated 1990.

Ellison allowed his election supporters to shout, “Allahu Akbar!”

(Allah is greater!) the same phrase allegedly used by the 9/11 suicide

pilots, and he has confirmed to reporters that “in terms of political agenda

items, my faith informs these things.”

Ellison has just returned from Israel. He took 19 US Dems with him. He

met with Ehud Olmert and Palestinian leader Abbas. The discussion was

about Israel giving back the WEST BANK and East Jerusalem. When

was this announcement made regarding this trip? August 1st, 5:41PM

CST on the very day the bridge collapsed. This was posted on the

Internet by the Associated Press. The bridge collapsed, officially, at

6:05PM, just 24 minutes later. I’m sure that bolts and rivets began

popping sooner, perhaps at the same moment Ellison’s trip was

announced?

Regarding Ellisons’ associations with some very questionable people

and organization (he was formerly associated with Louis Farrakhan’s

Nation of Islam and others…see

http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=56077)

Joe Kaufman, founder of Americans Against Hate, a terrorism watchdog

group, warned: ”Not only is it a conflict of interest for a member of the

U.S. House of Representatives [Ellison] to participate with such groups,

but it is, as well, an issue of national security. Those in positions of

power must demand an end to Keith Ellison’s dangerous and bigoted

associations. Either that or they must insist on his resignation.”

Ellison is from not only a native son of Minnesota but the bridge that

collapsed is in his district.

“Wow” indeed.

SIGNS OF THE TIMES

This morning as I prayed, I was reminded of the plagues against Egypt,

how stiff-necked the Egyptians were amidst these horrible judgments

of God.

I was reminded of how, just 150 years after Jonah arrived in a Big Fish,

the repentant nation of Nineveh returned to its wicked ways and was

rubbed off the map forever.

I thought about how many times America has taken a judgment - like

a stubborn child, refusing to respond to his spanking, though tears

welled in his eyes  - and failed to “discern the times.” How many more

judgments can we really expect?
In September, 2001, I broadcast an article entitled “Praying Church…

or PLAYING Church?” In that article, I wrote that something was

coming that would surely grind our billion wheels to a halt. Then

came September 11th and the attack against America. After that horrible

day, a man wrote asking if I had been prophesying. I replied that I did NOT

think 9-11 was “it”…that something WORSE was coming still.
I hope I was wrong.

I’m certain I was NOT.
Is the Lord speaking to us through any of this? Must we examine

our hearts and attitudes toward the tiny nation of Israel? Many

seem to think so. Others simple marvel at the coincidences. In any

case, I pray that I-35 will truly be a highway of Holiness.

Every blessing,

Michael Tummillo
