Can you help?

As many are aware, I am a Certified Workplace Chaplain living in Stephenville, Texas. I am employed by Pyramid HealthCare (go to www.PyramidHealthCare.com and look under STAFF for my photo and bio), and oversee the spiritual matters of over 500 employees (plus residents) in ten facilities in towns ranging from Paris to Hillsboro, Baird to Grand Saline. When I took this job, several minister friends likened it to the Methodist Circuit Rider preachers, only I drive an air-conditioned car, carry a cell phone and listen to CD’s as I chew up the miles. Now THAT’s roughing it! I HAVE put 25,000 miles on my car in less than a year on the job. (Try THAT on a horse, you ol’ pioneer preachers!)

God gave me the desire to serve as a full-time Workplace Minister since I first met one 13 years ago, an Australian who was employed by Gerber Baby Foods in Arkansas. He spoke with enthusiasm about the workplace ministry and how he never saw himself preaching from a pulpit ever again after having had this glorious experience (he’s still with Gerber). Since that time, wherever I have gone, I have served my employers in that context in the secular world in addition to my regular duties. One employer told me, “I know you are ministering to these people [on the job], but for all the changes I see taking place around here, I won’t dare stop you.” I assured him that the only way he could stop me was to fire me. From co-workers to customers, prayer to counseling, I was never compensated to do this job for anyone I worked for, until September 2006 when Diane Ward, a woman whom I had met through my work as Marketing Director for the local Chamber of Commerce, told me that her new Chaplain had died of a brain hemorrhage. I didn’t care what the job paid, I was interested, she was interested, and I went to work. Bible Studies, counseling, Death Education classes, hospital visits, prayer, dedication services and the like. We’ve seen people healed on many occasions, twice getting up out of wheel chairs after many years. Marriages restored, deliverance and even ministry to the families of staff members.

Recently, Diane has made me aware that some investors are interested in buying 6-7 of the ten facilities. Staff Chaplains are unheard of in this industry and these individuals, she regrets, are not Christians, though she will certainly attempt to “sell” the concept. Though she says she will gladly keep me aboard as the Chaplain in her remaining privately-owned facilities, she is well aware that I cannot make a living doing only that and would need to freelance. So, I’m looking for additional work.

This is an open bid for an interview. Workplace Chaplains are a growing trend in America. If you are a Christian Texas business owner - or know someone who might see the need for this workplace ministry - I’d appreciate the opportunity to make contact. If anyone needs additional information in order to make an informed decision about my Workplace Chaplaincy, please hit REPLY and type “CHAP” in the SUBJECT Bar. I can also be reached on my cell phone, 214.476.8792.

I’d appreciate ANY leads and ALL prayers.

Thank you for your support!!

Every blessing,

Michael Tummillo

Workplace Chaplain
