Speaking in Tongues:

ABC’s Nightline Gives ‘em Somethin’ to Talk about

It’s a subject that fascinates people everywhere. Even people in the media, like ABC’s Nightline, for instance.

Some say it’s of God while others say it’s demonic. A Nazarene preacher told me that, when he was in preparation to teach about the gifts of the Spirit, he was not sure how to handle the gift of tongues. “My denomination doesn’t believe in that…personally, I’m not so sure.”

A Message from your Father

As I was praying this morning, I felt an urgency to jump up and write this message. I know that it was meant for many readers.

I heard a story about a man in Mexico who booted his son out of the house for disgracing him, as I recall. Heart-broken and missing his son’s companionship, he ran an ad in the paper. It read: “Paco, all is forgiven. Come home. Meet me on the town square Monday at 2PM. Let’s talk. With Love, dad.” On Monday at 2 PM, the town square was crowded with boys named Paco.

WHO ARE YOU, CHRISTIAN?

I awoke this morning feeling quite strongly that the Lord wanted you to read this. It was broadcast about 5 years ago and I really wasn’t sure I still had it filed away. It wound up being quite a blessing to many back then, as I recall. It’s what God says about YOU - regardless of what you may THINK or what anybody else may have told you. It doesn’t matter what “label” others may have placed upon you - divorced, illegitimate, drunk, druggy, tramp, gossip, loser, cripple, stupid - if it doesn’t line up with what GOD says about you, it’s a lie. We all know where THOSE come from, right? I pray that this blesses you! FORWARD it to everyone you know. Someone needs this badly!

The Pastor and The D-word

Can a pastor be divorced? Yes, a pastor can be divorced. Many pastors are currently in the process or have been. Before we decide on whether or not that makes it “right,” let’s take a look at a deeper issue: The word “Pastor” itself.

Yes, the word does appear in the Bible in Ephesians 4:11: “And he gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as PASTORS and teachers.”

Do YOU have it?

Nixon didn’t have it. Hillary has glimpses of it, sometimes. Obama has it by the truckload. Gore actually has it now, but didn’t have it when he was in office. George W. had lots of it once. Occasionally, he still does. Ronald Raegan had it. Kerry didn’t have it at all. Clinton did. Carter didn’t. John Edwards, after he and his wife revealed that his campaign would go on, despite her recurrance of breast cancer, just shot to the top of many people’s lists.

What in the Name of Jesus…?

So, what in the Name of Jesus are we doing now?

Jesus said, “For where two or three come together IN MY NAME, there am I with them” (Matt 18:20).

Great, now what?

In Mark 16:17, He assured us that, “…these signs will accompany those who believe: IN MY NAME they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.”

WHO HAS BEWITCHED YOU?

Recently, I shot out an eMail entitled, “JESUS: STILL HEALING AFTER ALL THESE YEARS.” The response was unexpectedly positive with many requesting the “7 Hindrances to Healing” that I offered at the end (just hit REPLY and type “HEAL” in your SUBJECT Bar). In the section entitled “Third World Miracles,” I made reference to a book we’ve read in our House Church group called “Megashift” by Jim Rutz.

HIGHLY recommended! Two thumbs up!

Today, March 20th, on the WorldNetDaily.com site, a wonderful article of his was published which included the following excerpt that I thought was worth passing along.

New War. Old Wounds.

Last Friday, an article of mine appeared on what has been referred to as the most popular website on the Internet, WorldNetDaily.com. This site gets over 5 MILLION visitors each month. Unimaginable!

I was blessed and encouraged by the many emails I received from complete strangers, individuals who are NOT regular recipients of my online ministry broadcasts. In my message, one that I entitled, “It’s a Mahdi, Mahdi, Mahdi, Mahdi World!,” I wrote the phrase

, “…the bloodiest wars ever fought involved Christians and Muslims.” What I was NOT prepared for were the venomous messages I received that zeroed-in on that one phrase. It hit a nerve.

Are WE emphasizing the wrong thing?

It seems to me that many who have stepped out of the boat into the waters of House Church have placed our emphasis on the wrong thing. Far too much attention is being placed upon “The HOUSE” and not enough upon “The Church.” It’s evident by the introverted questions we ask most often:

“What do we do with the Children?”

“What about our leadership?”

“How do we “DO” House Church?”

“Why don’t you meet on Sunday’s, Michael?” Answer: We meet constantly instead - even when we’re all alone.

More from Robert Fitts

When Robert Fitts was in Stephenville recently, he spoke on several subjects over a two-day period. These included information about Simple Church as well as several outreaches that can be undertaken by House Churches or House Church Networks. The outreaches included:

(1) Ministry Training Schools: a six month commitment to be equipped, commissioned and sent out to do the works of Jesus. (Training, Equipping and Releasing are KEY to Church Saturation).
